Carved from solid natural teak — a dense hardwood with a naturally high oil content, which is why it resists moisture, resists warping and does not hold onto food odours the way softer woods do.

Each piece is cut from natural timber, so grain and colour vary slightly from item to item. That variation is the wood, not a fault.

Treated well, good wood outlasts everything else in the kitchen:

• Hand wash only in warm water with mild dish soap.
• Never put it in the dishwasher — heat and prolonged water will crack and warp the timber.
• Do not soak or leave it sitting in water.
• Dry immediately with a towel, then let it air dry fully before storing.
• Oil regularly — rub in food-grade mineral oil every few weeks, or whenever the wood looks dry or pale.
• Do not microwave and keep it away from direct heat sources.
• Sand out rough patches with fine sandpaper if the grain lifts, then re-oil.

Wood that is dried promptly and oiled occasionally will last for years. Wood left wet will not.
