Materials

Raw, Uncoated Teak

Solid natural teak in its raw, unfinished state — no varnish, no lacquer, no coating of any kind. Just sanded timber, exactly as the wood comes.

  • Completely uncoated — nothing between you and the timber
  • Naturally water resistant — teak’s own oils do the work
  • Gentle on cookware — safe on non-stick, ceramic and enamel
  • Plastic free and non-toxic — no synthetic finishes

Raw teak starts pale and warms in colour with use and oiling. Season it with food-grade mineral oil before first use — see the care tab.

Care Instructions

Because this set is completely uncoated, it needs seasoning before you use it:

  • Season before first use — rub food-grade mineral oil generously into every surface, leave it overnight, then wipe off the excess.
  • Hand wash only in warm water with mild dish soap.
  • Never put it in the dishwasher — heat and prolonged water will crack and warp the timber.
  • Do not soak or leave it sitting in water.
  • Dry immediately with a towel, then air dry fully before storing.
  • Re-oil often — raw teak drinks oil at first. Oil weekly for the first month, then every few weeks.
  • Do not microwave and keep it away from direct heat.

The colour will deepen from pale to a warm honey brown as the wood takes up oil. That is the timber curing, and it is meant to happen.
